The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), a leading ship classification society, and Altair today co-hosted a webinar on "Evolution and Usage of Electromagnetic Simulation in the Naval and Shipbuilding Industry".
The half day webinar drew participants from various sectors including the Indian Navy, shipyards, designers, consultants and academia.
Mr. Sharad Dhavalikar, Principal Surveyor, IRClass kick-started the webinar addressing the audience highlighting the importance of one model approach useful for prediction of various high frequency and low frequency Electromagnetic Signatures. He also introduced audience to a world of simulation technology available which can be used for efficient design of stealth ships.
Dr. C.J. Reddy, Altair USA, (Fellow IEEE) presented broad types of simulation methods available for electromagnetic applications for various sizes of objects, and methodologies that are applicable for ships.
The conference deliberated on possible application of software technologies to improve the design efficiency addressing the engineering challenges in marine industry, thus reducing the electromagnetic ship signatures. Presentations from IRClass provided a broader prospective of Electromagnetic solutions that IRClass has on offer for Naval and commercial shipping industry. Altair presentations covered EM studies on Antenna Placement, Co-site Interference Analysis for Ship Platforms & Ship Level EMC and Radiation Hazard Analysis.
